2012 will be an excellent year for people looking into buying a small hatchback as it’ll be the year we will be seeing the launch of the Audi A1, the Mercedes A and B Class and, of course, the BMW 1 Series.

The latter will be the one of most interest to us and what gets our attention in particular is the components that will go into it.

Most likely, BMW will shove quite a lot of the components that are to be found on the 3 Series into the next generation of 1 series.

This may happen either because BMW want to create a sensation of downsizing without downgrading or perhaps because of the new plans to cut costs at BMW. Either way this is pretty good news as the 3 Series is well built and well equipped.

The most important component to be found placing in both platforms will be the new four-cylinder turbo engine from the E90 3 Series added to which there is the possibility of a new three cylinder engine on both vehicles.  via

Should we take into account the success of the implementation of 7 Series components to the F10 BMW 5 Series the 2012 1 Series shows great promise.

Competition package for BMW M3 E92 Coupe

BMW M3 E92 performance model, in coupe version, receives a Competition package from the German manufacturer, which brings a new look but also improved settings. BMW is looking to broaden their offer of colors and accessories available for the M3 E92 with a new special package. The performance version received a Competition Pack, which will cost 3800 euros and which includes among others a completely new body color for the Bavarian range. Named Frozen Black, the hue of black is looking to individualize better the coupe version, which is available.

The Competition Kit proposes for customers a 10 mm lowered suspension and lighter alloy wheels. Improved appearance is complemented by a new stability control program and a new “Sport” mode, which uses the Electronic Damping Control system.

Germans from BMW will offer a limited edition of Z4 in Italy to celebrate 70 years since 328 Kamm coupe models have gained the 1,3,5 and 6 places at 1940 edition of the Mille Miglia competition.

BMW launched a a special Z4 edition in Italy to commemorate 70 years since the victory at Mille Miglia. The model will be built in only 99 copies and will benefit mainly aesthetic changes. The Mille Miglia limited edition of BMW Z4 is based on sDrive 35is version of this model and received a black painted grille, an aerodynamic kit developed by M division and a set of 19 inch chrome alloy wheels with smoky effect.

The Mopar Jeep Wrangler Overland is based on the 2009 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. To increase cargo capacity for hauling gear, the Jeep Wrangler Overland’s rear seats are replaced with a large, flat, rubberized utility floor. Mounted to the cargo rack is an all-new ARB two-person Simpson II rooftop-mounted tent and touring awning. The interior of the Jeep Wrangler Overland features water-resistant Mopar front-seat covers, rugged Mopar slush mats, a Daystar dash bin and lower switch panel that powers added accessories.

Enhancing off-road travel is an American Expedition Vehicles’ (AEV), Nth Degree, 3-inch suspension lift and a Full Traction rear sway bar. The lift allows aggressive 35-inch tires mounted on 17-inch steel Mopar winter/off-road wheels to fit under the Jeep. Additional off-road protection at the front and rear is provided by AEV steel bumpers and for added security, a Warn 9.5ti winch.

The Bugatti 16C Galibier Concept is powered by 16-cylinder, 8-litre engine with two-stage supercharging. What makes this engine so special is that it was developed as a flex-fuel engine and can optionally be run on ethanol. The Bugatti 16C Galibier Concept comes with four-wheel drive, specially developed ceramic brakes and a new suspension design enable the agile, always-sure handling of a saloon of this size.

The Bugatti 16C Galibier Concept interior reflects the elemental design of the exterior. The dashboard has been reduced to the essential; two centrally located main instruments keep even the rear passengers constantly informed of the current speed and previous performance. Parmigiani, the Swiss maker of fine watches, created a removable tourbillion clock for the Galibier, which may be worn on the wrist thanks to a cleverly designed leather strap.

Here are the first official pictures of the all-new Volvo S60 – sportier and more dynamic than any previous Volvo model. The Volvo S60 can be equipped with Pedestrian Detection – a groundbreaking safety feature that can detect pedestrians in front of the car and brake automatically if the driver does not react in time.

The all-new Volvo S60 is being unveiled to the public for the first time at the Geneva Motor Show in early March next year. Production of the sporty sedan model will start in early summer 2010 at the Volvo Cars plant in Ghent, Belgium. via

The Citroen C-ZERO motor is powered by a latest-generation 330-volt lithium-ion battery system comprising 88 50Ah cells (for onboard energy of 16kWh), mounted in the center of the vehicle. Lithium-ion technology keeps battery weight down compared with conventional technology, while offering equivalent performance.
